Introduction

The Stella Sora tier list below is a community ranking, not an official one, and it is built on three arguments that can actually be checked: how much element coverage a Trekker provides, how comfortably they fit the three-slot squad, and how dependent they are on one specific Runic Disc to function at all. A Trekker who needs a limited Disc to reach their ceiling is placed lower than one who performs without it, because a ranking that assumes a Disc you may never recruit is not useful for planning. Newly released Trekkers stay provisional until there are enough Ascension clears across the community to judge them, and every placement is revisited after each version update.

Tier Placement Criteria at a Glance

TierWhat It MeansArgument For Placement
SDefines a composition on their ownWorks as the main damage source across most elements and rarely needs a dedicated Runic Disc before it functions
AStrong, flexible, slots into most squadsExcellent element coverage at low setup cost, but usually wants one specific partner or Disc to peak
BSolid role playersDoes the job inside the right element team but is not worth building a Record around from scratch
CSituational picksCarried by a specific element matchup or event rule; useful, but not a general-purpose investment
TBDProvisionalRecently released Trekkers stay unranked until the community has enough Ascension clears to judge them

★5 Lux Vanguard — limited anniversary headline

Why This TierReleased as an exclusive ★5 Lux Trekker with the Version 2.0 first-anniversary update and described as a Vanguard wielding the greatsword Daybreak and the longsword Dawn. A Vanguard that defines a Lux composition without needing a specific Disc is exactly the profile the S tier exists for.
PositioningOccupies the main damage slot in a Lux squad, which frees the remaining two slots for element coverage and support. Because the Vanguard role is officially defined, the placement does not rest on an invented role label.
CaveatLimited availability. If the banner is gone, the placement is informational rather than actionable — plan around the Trekkers you actually hold instead of waiting for a rerun.

★5 Umbra Versatile — amplification specialist

Why This TierAn exclusive ★5 Umbra Trekker that Yostar describes as a mysterious top-tier ninja, built to amplify Umbra allies' damage and finish fights with area attacks. Damage amplification sits outside the usual single-target ranking and lifts a whole squad.
PositioningOfficially labelled Versatile, so she is not locked into the main damage slot. That makes her one of the few units that can hold a flex slot in a squad built around a different primary carry.
CaveatUmbra teams lean on dedicated Disc support, so the placement assumes you are willing to build the Record that supports the element rather than slotting her into a mixed team.

★5 Lux Vanguard — drone-based damage

Why This TierOfficially described as serving as a Vanguard with Lux-elemental abilities and fighting through the drones Snow Rabbit and Night Rabbit. Multiple damage sources from a single slot is a large amount of value for a three-slot squad.
PositioningShares the Lux Vanguard role with Firstlight Noya, which matters for players who missed the limited banner — the element keeps a strong primary damage option either way.
CaveatTwo Lux Vanguards compete for the same slot in a mono-Lux squad, so owning both does not double the team's output. The second copy is a bench option, not a second carry.

★5 Umbra — rerun headliner

Why This TierA ★5 Umbra Trekker and senior executive of United Harvest who headlined a limited-banner rerun. The rerun itself is the evidence: a unit that returns on banner is one the player base still recruits, and Umbra has limited alternatives.
PositioningSteps into the Umbra squad alongside Otoha, where Otoha's amplification applies. Most accounts treat the pair as the two halves of one team rather than as separate investments.
CaveatRated A rather than S because the pairing dependency is real: without the Umbra support structure around her, the same unit produces noticeably less than the headline Trekkers.

New Star Guild Core

Amber, Noya and Iris — the accessible starting trio

Why This TierAll three are documented on the official site as members of the New Star Guild, the group the player joins. They are the Trekkers a new account is most likely to hold early, so their placement is about realistic access rather than peak power.
PositioningB tier reflects that they do their job inside the right element team but are not worth building a Record around from scratch. They are the squad that carries you until the first limited ★5 arrives, not the squad you tune for Chaotic.
CaveatYostar documents Noya and Firstlight Noya as separate entries, and the limited version is the one that ranks at the top of the list. Do not treat the guild member and the anniversary headline as the same unit.

Core Mechanics

Ranking Trekkers in Stella Sora means ranking them against a three-slot squad and a single-element commitment. Because the game publishes no cross-element reactions, the question is not which unit combos into which, but whether a unit can hold its slot alone or needs a partner and a Disc to reach its ceiling. A placement therefore carries more weight when it is cheap to achieve: a Trekker who performs at their listed tier on day one is ranked above an equally strong unit that only performs once a limited Disc arrives. The other structural factor is role scarcity. Yostar officially names two roles, Vanguard and Versatile, and only Versatile units can flex out of the primary damage slot, so Versatile Trekkers get partial credit for the slot they free up rather than the damage they personally deal.

Advantages

A tier list is most useful in Stella Sora precisely because the resource costs are real. Vigor is metered, Disc pulls are split between the Trekker banner and the Disc banner, and a Record that has been built around the wrong element is expensive to rebuild. Having a ranked view before committing means the first ★5 you build around is a decision rather than an accident, and it means you can see when a lower-ranked Trekker is the better purchase for your account simply because they need less support. The ranking also isolates the limited-banner problem: because several of the strongest options are limited, the list makes clear which tiers are achievable today and which are only achievable on a rerun, so a plan can be built around what is actually recruitable.

Challenges & Weaknesses

The honest weakness of any Stella Sora tier list is the evidence base. Yostar has not published damage multipliers, drop rates or levelling caps, so placements cannot be backed with numbers and have to rest on documented role, element and availability instead. Newly released Trekkers are therefore held at provisional status rather than guessed into a tier, and a unit whose value depends on an event rule will look misplaced the moment the event rotates out. Tier placements also age fast: a rebalance in any version update can move a unit several tiers, and a limited banner that does not rerun effectively removes an S-tier option from the game for new players. Treat this page as a starting argument, not a verdict.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this an official Stella Sora tier list?+
No. Yostar does not publish tier rankings, and the placements here are community opinion built on documented element, role and availability. We state the criteria openly so you can disagree with a placement on the same grounds we made it, and we avoid quoting damage figures because the official sources do not publish any.
Why are so many Trekkers left unranked?+
Because a placement should be defensible. A newly released Trekker has not been played through enough high-difficulty Ascension runs for the community to judge how they hold up under Chaotic-tier pressure, so they stay provisional until that evidence exists. The list is revisited after each version update rather than filled in on release day.
Should I reroll for an S-tier Trekker?+
Rerolling is a player behaviour, not an official mechanism, so nothing in the game is designed around it. What matters more is committing to one element early: a B-tier Trekker inside a coherent element team will out-clear an S-tier Trekker slotted into a squad with no Disc support behind it, because the Record is the variable being optimised.
How often does the tier list change?+
It is reviewed after every version update, because Yostar ships on a roughly two-week cadence and each update can add a Trekker, adjust an existing one or shift an event rule that a placement depended on. Entries tied to a specific event window are the most volatile and are flagged as situational rather than given a durable tier.

Quick Tips

💡

Rank a Trekker by what they do without a Disc, not with one. A unit whose ceiling depends on a limited Runic Disc you have not recruited is not actually at that ceiling on your account, and planning around a theoretical build produces a squad that underperforms in the content you can actually enter today.

💡

Read the limited-versus-rerun note before you commit to an element. Several of the strongest options in Stella Sora arrive on limited banners, and if that banner has passed with no rerun announced, the practical target for your account is the best permanent alternative in that element rather than the headline unit you cannot currently recruit.

💡

Remember that two units sharing an element and a role compete for one slot. Owning both Lux Vanguards does not double a mono-Lux squad's output, because only one of them can occupy the primary damage position at a time and the other simply sits on the bench with the same Disc investment behind it.

💡

Treat tier letters as an ordering of investment priority rather than of raw power. A B-tier unit that needs no support can be the right purchase for a new account, while an S-tier unit that depends on a dedicated Record may be the wrong one until that Record exists and its Discs have been recruited.

💡

Do not treat event-specific placements as permanent. When a stage publishes a specific Enemy Vulnerability or event rule, the Trekker that exploits it looks considerably stronger than their standing tier during that window, and the same distortion appears in reverse once the window closes. The distortion is temporary by design, which is exactly why it should not drive a permanent build decision.
